I like the contoured grip and coating. It helps keep the stick from slipping around in your hand, especially if you get sweaty. The contours also help keep the sticks symmetrical in your hands, if you have a problem with one hand ending up with a slightly different grip on the stick. I prefer this coating to the Vic Grip coating, which, while more tacky, tends to tear up my fingers and ends up flaking off. However, these are pretty thin sticks, just a little thicker than a 5A, and relatively light weight, although they are quite long. I find that a pair lasts me about a week of moderately heavy playing. The tips tends to chip within 3-4 days, and if you’re playing rimshots the body of the stick will splinter pretty quickly. The tip is relatively small, so it doesn’t give a very bright ping on the ride cymbal. I think a nylon tip would sound better.Overall I like these sticks a lot for medium intensity playing. They’re too light and thin for metal or punk, but for other styles they’re nicely balanced and feel good in the hands.
